Bihar Election Result Live Update, Bihar Election Counting Live: The counting of votes for Bihar Assembly Election 2020 started at 8 am today. Till 2.22 pm, around 35 per cent votes were counted and the ruling NDA had a clear lead over the Mahagathbandhan. As per the Election Commission website, BJP is leading on 74 seats. If this trend results in actual seats, BJP may emerge as the single-largest party of Bihar. At 12.18 am, NDA was ahead of the opposition Mahagathbandhan. However, several rounds of counting are yet to take place. The final result may take a long time to come. The voting in Bihar was held for 243 seats of Bihar legislative Assembly in three phases, ending on November 7. To form the new government, a winning combination would require 122 seats.

It is a big day for the BJP as it is also leading in bypolls in several states including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Exit polls had indicated that it would tough for Nitish Kumar-led NDA to retain power against Tejashwi Yadav-led Mahagathbandhan. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has made all security arrangements for safe counting of voted. The EC gave 19 companies of paramilitary forces to guard strongrooms. They are the innermost core of counting centres' security. There're 59 companies of paramilitary forces to maintain general law and order in the state, HR Srinivasa, Bihar Chief Election Commissioner, was quoted as saying by ANI on Monday.
"This year we have 55 counting stations compared to normal number of 38 which corresponds to the number of districts in the state. This has been done to increase social distancing," he added.

The BJP has scored high in terms of winning percentage in the Bihar assembly polls, while its partner JD(U) has performed relatively poorly. With the three Left parties bagging seven seats and leading in 10 others in Bihar, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury warned naysayers against writing them off, saying had they been given more seats, they would have notched up higher numbers in the elections.
