There has been a controversy over the statement given by lyricist and former Rajya Sabha MP Javed Akhtar in a TV channel debate.
On Friday, Javed Akhtar compared NDTV to the Hindu outfit Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with the Taliban.
BJP leader has opposed his statement and said that Javed Akhtar should apologize for his statement with folded hands.
Party leader Ram Kadam said in a statement on Twitter, “Unless Javed Akhtar apologizes to crores of workers of Sangh and Vishwa Hindu Parishad with folded hands, no film of him and his family will play on the land of this Mahabharata. “
Kadam said, “Before making the statement, at least they would have thought that people belonging to the same Sangh Parivar are running the politics of this country today. They are following Raj Dharma. If there was a Talibani ideology, would he have been able to make such rhetoric? From this, it becomes clear how hollow his statement is”.
Ram Kadam is an MLA from Kadam Ghatkopar seat in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He has also said that a complaint will be given to the police against Javed Akhtar.
At the same time, Ashutosh Dubey, who describes himself as a legal advisor of BJP Maharashtra unit, has given a complaint against Javed Akhtar to the Mumbai Police. Dubey wrote on Twitter that he has filed a complaint against Javed Akhtar in the concerned police station for comparing the RSS with the Taliban.

‘Obviously, Taliban is barbaric and its actions are condemnable, but those who support organizations like RSS, Bajrang Dal and BHP are all the same.’
During the debate, Javed Akhtar had also said that he has full faith in the understanding of the Indian people. He had said that most of the people living in India are tolerant, it should be respected, India will never become a Talibani nation.
